SNOW, the Waterford Hog Roast, SNOW, Harrison LN, and SNOW
February 24, 2008 3:22 PM
Well to start out with, has anyone else had a ridiculous amount of Snow Days in the past two weeks?
I know, that I have. In the past two weeks, my school has had only Three days of School.
Getting away from Snow for just a couple of minutes, I would like to say that I still managed to have a great FFA week. My FFA Chapter does an Annual Hog Roast, that we invite our community to come to, on the Thursday of FFA week. This past Wednesday Waterford FFA members and myself started on our annual Hog Roast, even though we did not have school. Then later that evening, just in time for the Lunar Eclipse, we were joined by the State President, Dustin Homan. The Hog Roast is a Lock-In for FFA members as well, so Dustin and I spent the night playing cards (by the way FFA members your State President is horrible at Kemp), getting our butts kicked at Basketball by some Freshmen FFA members, and eventually pulling the meat off the bones of Three roasted hogs. This last bit included as much eating of the hog as saving it for the next day, and in Dustin's case throwing cooked pig fat at FFA members (I know really gross, right...but I guess it was my fault since I was the one who gave him the idea). Then we were able to catch a little bit of sleep, finally at 4:30 in the morning.
Then, guess what, because of SNOW, school the day of the Meal was cancled. But FFA spirit prevailed and we were still able to have the meal, and over 300 community members showed up to show their FFA support.
Then later that I drove, up to Harrison Central for my last Leadership Night of the year. That made this a little bit of a sad event for me, but we still managed to have a great time and a good learning experience. I also had the best wrap-up group yet, when it came to trying to steal the handkerchief back at the end. What is normally a quick little bit of running around, turned into a 5 minute game of ring-around-the-rosies. The group could not get themselves uncaught as their leaders in the front and at the back continued to chase each other, around a pole in their cafeteria. Finally we ended the Leadership Night with some pretty good pizza, some talk with some District 8ers, and evidently a guy from Indian Valley, who happens to also be named Justin, going home with a few random phone numbers, most of which were jokes by his friends. (no purple...lol)
Then...you guessed it SNOW!
Liz, Jesse, and I walked out of Harrison Central HS to a light covering of Snow on all of the vehicles, but it did not stop there. I stayed the Night at Liz Watson's House that night and what should have taken us no more that 45 minutes to get home, turned into 2 hours driving in the Snow, becuase it was falling that heavily. But we made it!
After spinning my truck out in Liz's driveway, meeting her family, some quick facebooking, and a shower I was off to bed. Then when I woke up the next morning, it wasn't just SNOW, but SNOW covered in ICE. So since my school was yet again cancled, I spent that morning hanging out with Liz and her brother Ethan, and making some fairly good Puppy Chow (no, not dog food), and then, in the early afternoon, I finally made the drive back to glorious, snow covered D10.
Till next time, from still SNOW covered D10,

Good Morning Ohio FFA,
I hope that you are all doing well, and that you all had a great Christmas Break (I know I'm a little late but I have not blogged in a while).
So MFE was great, I got to see a lot of FFA members from camp and to catch back up with them. I hope all of you that went to MFE or ALD had a great time, I know that I did. I was lucky enough to have a pretty awesome table and group. Go Blueberries! I was at a table with some of those Edgewood students, such as Bobby and the Shaw twins. We definetly had the best free standing tower, and Edgewood you better still have that thing, we spent a whole 3 minutes on it. :-)
Then last week I had a meeting with the District 10 Officers, and we discussed District Officer Interviews and District Banquet. I hope to see a lot of you D10ers show up at Interviews, so we can have another great officer team next year. If not I really hope to see you at the District 10 Banquet, held at Waterford. It is going to be pretty cool and I hope to see all of you there. (might be a little crowded in my little school, if you have ever been to Waterford you will understand what I mean, but it will be great anyways).
Anna, Jodi, and I also went to the Galipolis Leadership Night. I met Jodi in Athens and then we drove down to Buckeye Hills Career Center for the Leadership Night. It was a pretty good Leadership Night, and it was great to see some of you D10ers again, like Justin from Gallia Academy, and all of you Miegs students (easy on the arm wrestling). Then we wrapped it all up with some pretty great Pizza.
Lastly, but definetly not least, my latest Chapter Visit to the Washington County Career Center. I arrived around 8:00 and Mr. Simpson gave me a tour of their program and some of their projects. I presented 2 times and spent the rest of the time learning about the different projects that the members were working on. WCCC has a floriculture program, and they showed me some of the different ways to make flower arrangements. I never would have believed the amount of time spent on flowers! It was a really great day and a Chapter Visit that I will never forget.
Well I guess, the bell is about to ring and I have to go to Physics. (that is not necessarily a good thing)

Symmes Valley Chapter Visit and Ridgewood Leadership Night
December 18, 2007 9:28 PM
Hey Hey Hey Ohio FFA,
Last week I had the opportunity to see some more of the glorious District 10 and go to the Symmes Valley FFA Chapter. I arrived their and was just a little short on time...whoo now that was an enjoyable drive! Well, once I arrived there, I went right into a workshop with a Sophmore class. So a real quick shout out to a few of the sophmores, that were great in that class, thanks Latasha and Lyndsey.
After the sophmores Lyndsey their Chapter President showed me around their school and introduced me to some of the Faculty. Then I had the opportunity to spend a class period with the Freshmen FFA members. Thanks for a great class, and all of your help. You were a great class, and Charlie I hope that you go to camp this summer. Remember that Pizza we made!
Then I ate lunch with the Symmes Valley Chapter Officers. We had some really good Pizza, and potatoe chips, I'm still not sure if those chips were BBQ or not. We were a little confused on the taste, but hey what do you do!
After Lunch, I presented to the Senior class. There was one Senior in that class who just had all of the answers, and Jacob, I hope that you continue to show your skills to Ms. Roberts in class as well. Make sure to remember Cooperation, Clear Communication, and Attitude.
Then last wednesday Tyler Church, Lyndsey Murphy, and myself travled to West Lafeyette for the Ridgewood Leadership Night. Lyndsey and I met in Zanesville and then traveled up for the LN. As soon as we arrived Mr. Derringer made sure that I was taught an Internet game called "Reversi" in which he thought he was good at, but his students informed me that he really is not very good, it's all in his head (hey sorry Mr. Derringer) Then when Tyler showed up (he was running late that night, but we can live with that I guess) we set up, and then ate some Pizza. Here is a quick shout out to the 2 East Knox girls who came, don't worry I'm sure you didn't feel out of place being the only 2 out of 140 who were not from Ridgewood. HAHA. Then we had the Leadership Night and everyone did a Fantastic Job. WHOOP WHOOP.
Then Lyndsey and I drove back to Zanesville, and Lyndsey had the Life Altering experience of Tom's Ice Cream Bowl. Here is a tip to all of you FFA members, if you are ever in Zanesville it is worth it to stop and get some Ice Cream.
Have a very merry Christmas!

District 10 Barnyard Olympics and Waterford Leadership Night
November 25, 2007 7:11 PM
Hey Ohio,
Well I hope that everyone has been doing well and that school is going fantastic for you.
Recently the District 10 Officers and myself put on a District-wide Barnyard Olympics. It was held at Alexander High School and it was a great time. I had the opportunity to hang out with some really awesome D10ers. We had a great time. It began with some outside activities such as a greased pumpkin relay, hay bale toss, and a corn shucking contest. Then we went inside, and warmed up a bit. From there we did some other activities such as, farmer millionare, an arm wrestling contest, chubby bunny (good job big John). From there we had dinner provided by the Federal Hocking FFA Alumni. Then we wrapped up with a scavenger hunt and a very interesting round of Hick your Advisor. So it was a very good time, and congratulations to Sheridan for winning the travleing trophy for the next year.
Then last Tuesday night my homeschool hosted a Leadership Night. Jodi, Lyndsey, and myself were the Officers that put on the leadership night. I was really glad to see so many FFA members show up for the Leadership Night. We had a really great time and to top it all we had the best pizza in the world...Jukebox.
Till next time,

Ok so it has been a little while ;-)

Hey Ohio FFA how have ya been? So it has been a little while since my last blog. So lets catch up.
So since my last blog, I have went to National Convention, had a Chapter Visit at Meigs High School, Went on a College Visit (good story), had an officer meeting, and regrettably watched OSU get beat by Illinois.
So National Convention, a week with the other State Officers in Indianapolis, what more could I ask for. The first few days of National Convention I spent in Delegate meetings and carrying out Delegate responsibilities as a representative of you as members. Then actual Convention began and I had the opportunity to listen to speakers such as Dr. Rick Rigsby, Henry Winkler, and Mark Sanborn. There was also the Buckeye Bash, which was a blast. I really enjoyed getting to see so many of you again there, such as Karazee, and Jarazee, Leonard, and Graham.
Also congratulations to all of the American Degree Recipients at this year's National Convention.
Then last Tuesday I had a Chapter Visit at Meigs High School. Thank you to Meigs for having me there I had a very enjoyable time. Also thank you for the jumpstart after school (I have a horrible habit of leaving my lights on).
Then there was the College Visit to The Ohio State University. I went there and spent the day being shown around the University by the District 5 President Tyler Church. Then that evening I went to Dinner at Applebee's with Lyndsey and Shallie. After dinner we returned to Norton house for a party-safe sponsored party. Complete with root beer and pizza, oh yeah. Well it was not just the root beer and the pizza that made the party very interesting, but I was in a matter of speaking arrested. I was not actually arrested but part of the party-safe was that the police officer goes through what would actually happen if a real party was busted. So out of all of the people there the police officer picks me the seventeen year old, senior in high school, on a college visit individual to have do the sobriety test, and eventually to be put in handcuffs, taken outside and...................thanked for participating. Well that was an interesting night to say the least.
Then we had an officer meeting, and afterward the majority of the officer team stayed to watch the OSU game and well enough said.
Nice talking you again Ohio FFA.
