April 14, 2008 8:27 AM
What a whirl the past few months have been! Its coming to the end of banquet season, convention is in a week, and graduation soon following!! HOW EXCITING!
I attended the North Central Banquet, thank you to the officers who worked hard to put on a great program! Grace Ebersole and her family were great hosts, and her parents were inducted as honorary members!! Congratulations! Next it was off to Anthony Wayne.. where I met MR. Casey Huepenbecker.. sorry for thinking you were a girl! haha And Mr. Nick Barney who is balloted for state office! Congratulations! Dustin and I got to sit with Nicks little brothers and a lot of Mr. Ryan's family. Pretty entertaining, let me tell you! Of course, then it was off to Coldstone where dustin made, possibly the best creation ever! Lemon sorbet smoothie with gummy bears! YUM!! Well Wednesday night I went to Parkway, where I showed up WAY too early because ABBEA told me the wrong time! haha oh well! So great to see so many camp friends.. and I promise Travis MADE me get two plates of desert! hehe! I helped Mr. Post hand out numerous awards and had a wonderful evening! Melinda, your retiring address worked so well with my speech! Maybe the next time you will find lincolnview instead of wren!
Banquet season has been a blast, but now it is time for the one and only Ohio FFA Convention! Im so pumped to see all the members and energy in the sessions! It will be a great time Ohio,, so be there and you might be able to beat Anthony Wayne to the front row...DOUBT IT! The last few days I have been trying to pack things and get ready to leave monday morning!
Then.. comes graduation! I will graduate from Wapakoneta High School on May 31. It is coming so quickly! Then this summer I will be going to state fair, vacation in Colorado, then off to college in COLUMBUS! ahh! SO crazy!
Well I cant wait to see each and everyone of you next week so be EXCITED!

February?
February 10, 2008 9:34 PM
It is February already Ohio FFA, and state convention is progressing quickly. This past saturday, the officers and myself got together for a meeting at the FFA Center. It was time to hand out the convention script. It is truly a critical time in a state officer's year now! Not only have I been filling out proficiencies, star state degree, and national chapter, it is time to write my parts for the convention script! We are also preparing all of our exciting pre-session activities for you.. SO BE THERE!
Boy has it been cold in Wapakoneta. Either flooding one day, or blowing houses over the next, it is crazy around here! I hope you are all staying warm and preparing for evaluations!!! GOOD LUCK!

MFE/January Meeting.. and more! :)
January 16, 2008 3:30 PM
Hello again Ohio!
Well last weekend the officers and I got together for a fun-filled weekend! We had dinner at El Vaquero and got to hear all of Katy Endsley's wonderful spanish! (She's really good!) All day friday we worked very hard on banquet speeches! I was overwhelmed with the time and effort that each officer had put into their speech, each having a touch of their own personality! SO! Since we worked SO hard to prepare these for you, invite us to your school!!!
Next was MFE/ALD! The first day was awesome because I got to see SO many FFA members I had already met, plus there were so many more to meet! All my good friends at New Bremen, Rachel and Rick! The Carl twins from Marysville, Aaron from Morgan, and so many more! We learned to live a life of excellence and I hope all that attended had a great time!
On Sunday Dustin and I made the long journey home( in which I snuck in a small nap!). This week were yucky semester exams at Wapak High. Today I had my Ag exam which wasn't too bad, but tomorrow is english! YUCK! BUT! After I take my exam I am heading south for a couple of days to meet up in D9 with Anna and Dustin for the Western Brown Leadership Night! Im SURE there will be many stories to be shared after our slumber party and you all will be the first to hear! But other than that! GET WORKING ON YOUR STATE DEGREES AND PROFICIENCIES!!! haha!
Peace out!

NEW YEAR!
January 8, 2008 6:49 PM
Well I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and a Happy New Year! As for all of you seniors, Im sure you are just as ready as I am for may/June of 2008 and graduation!
As for FFA! Leadership nights are going well and chapter visits are slowing down. I just cannot believe how fast the last six months have went!
And for myself, I have been really busy with school (YUCK!), and showing steers. Each winter I take my steers to several shows across the state of Ohio! (Always seeing Kristen from Bloom-Carroll with her angus!.. if you don't know she beat Allen Schmitz, State Vice President, in Extemp at state last year!) My steers are both doing extremely well and that just makes all the time I put into them all the better. I do apologize for my lack of blogging.
I hope all is well with each and everyone of you! Thursday night the other officers and myself will be getting together to prepare for MFE! I hope many of you can attend!

National Convention and a Great day at Cory Rawson!
November 4, 2007 12:44 PM
So sorry it has been so long, but things have definitely picked up in the world of FFA. Planning for National Convention, was a long and detailed process.. but well worth it! We arrived in Indy(safely even though Allen was driving Dustin, Tyler, and myself!) on Sunday evening to the Westin Hotel. The lobby was full of state officers from all over the country! On Monday, Allen, Justin, and I traveled to Strides To Success. It was a horse farm that was used for educational purposes. After they decided that we would never get all the weeds pulled in a 10(if not more!) acre hayfield, it was back to the barn to plant trees and help with the landscaping. Throughout the day we also helped spread mulch, put timbers around the landscape, and assist in building stalls. Tuesday it was down to business! Our first delegate meeting and committee meetings were held. (may I add that there was some intense debate..since it is up to the delegates to plan the future for the National FFA Organization!) Wednesday we finished up delegate committee meetings and headed to dinner with the Oklahoma State Officers! Being the talker that I am, I had the privilege to sit with the state advisor, Mr. Staats, and the Agri Net Broadcaster from Oklahoma, Ray Hays. They were pretty enteraining and we had a blast. Thursday it was time for the first session and let me tell you it was an unforgettable sight of blue jackets!
Throughout convention I recieved an award for the Ohio FFA Association! Increased membership! Keep it up ohio! Also we listened to Dr. Rick Rigsby(Hilarious), Chad Hymas(terribly sad but an amazing message), and Henry Winkler. We had a chance to do a little dancing with all the Ohio members at the Buckeye Bash, and for the first time I had calamari(Dustin says its octapus?!), and clams and muscles right out of the shell!( VERY good!)
Over all convention was a BLAST! But it was time to go home and continue on with our daily lives. On November 2nd Allen and I were to travel to Cory Rawson for a chapter visit and a leadership night lock in. My cell phone rings at 5:35 AM and Allen is on his way, but I was not even out of bed! Allen was an HOUR eary!!!!!( as always!) Even though he blames it all on me, Im pretty sure I told him we had to leave at 6:50 NOT 5:50!!! So we headed out way earlier than necessary and stopped at Cracker Barrel in Lima for a little breakfast and to review some lesson plans.
We also experienced our first class of 7th graders and had a blast! Thanks to Courtney's job interview skit and Elliot the cow who could sit like a dog! At lunch Mr. Marx made us and their officer team some great vegetable soup that the rest of the school thought smelled like cat food?! Since Miles and Sarah proved that they could NOT make paper airplanes, Mr. Marx gave us a lesson to do it like a pro!
After a super day at the visit, Allen and I headed to Findlay to buy supplies for our leadership night at Walmart! I always knew there was a real reason to never let a guy push a shopping cart! THEY RUN OVER YOUR FEET! Taco Bell was our next stop when Allen decided Leadership is a lot like Chili Cheese Nachos Bell Grande! ( long story! But there are many diverse layers to the nachos and to leadership?!) haha
The leadership night was amazing! Though it was a sad sight when Leny popped, we had a great time building animals with random supplies, making our balloon leaders, and playing Brittani SAYS! ( I really did enjoy that!)
Thank you Cory Rawson for the GREAT day!!!
